AI receptionist for plumbers: 7 options and what they cost

A plumber under a sink cannot pick up the phone. A missed call at 9 p.m. about a burst pipe is a job that goes to the next name on Google. An AI receptionist answers that call, takes the details, and books the job or sends you an alert.

What a plumbing shop needs from an AI receptionist

Before you compare prices, write down how your calls work. Most plumbing shops need these five things:

Emergency routing. The AI should spot words like "flooding," "no water," or "sewage" and transfer the call or text the on-call tech without delay.
Booking into your software. If you run Jobber, Housecall Pro, or ServiceTitan, ask whether the receptionist writes the job into it or sends you a message to enter by hand.
Service area checks. The AI should ask for the address and decline calls outside your area, so you do not drive 40 minutes for a $150 drain job.
Price questions. Decide what the AI may say about trip fees and estimates. Give it your exact wording.
After-hours rules. Set what happens at night and on weekends: book for tomorrow, transfer, or take a message.

Upfirst: lowest entry price

Upfirst lists plumbing among its industries. Starter is $24.95 a month on monthly billing ($20 a month on annual) for 30 calls, with $1.50 for each extra call. Premium is $59.95 a month ($48 annual) for 90 calls and $1 per extra call. Its integrations page lists Zapier, Make, Google Calendar, and Outlook. Upfirst says it works with ChatGPT and Claude. Fit: a solo plumber with fewer than 30 calls a month who wants a low monthly bill.

Dialzara: priced by minutes

Dialzara prices by talk time. Business Lite is $29 a month with 60 minutes and $0.48 per extra minute. Business Pro is $99 a month with 220 minutes and $0.45 per extra minute. Business Plus is $199 for 500 minutes. Business Lite includes blind transfer to your team; warm transfer starts on Business Pro. Fit: shops with short calls. If your average call runs 3 minutes, 60 minutes covers about 20 calls.

Jobber Receptionist: built into Jobber

If you run Jobber, its pricing page lists Receptionist as a $29 a month add-on. Jobber says it answers calls and texts and can book jobs in your Jobber calendar, inside the limits you set. It is part of the Plus plan. Our Jobber AI receptionist cost guide covers the allowance and overage.

Fit: plumbing shops on Jobber that want calls booked into the same calendar with no extra app.

Rosie: flat plans with transfers

Rosie lists plumbing on its industries menu. Professional is $49 a month with 250 minutes. Scale is $149 a month with 1,000 minutes and adds booking on your calendar plus warm and live transfers. Growth is $299 a month with 2,000 minutes and "waterfall transfers," where Rosie tries several numbers until someone answers. See the Rosie listing.

Fit: shops that want emergency calls passed to a person. Waterfall transfers on Growth match an on-call rotation.

Goodcall: priced by unique customers

Goodcall counts unique customers, not calls. Starter is $79 a month for 100 unique customers, plus 79¢ for each extra, which Goodcall says is about 150 calls. Growth is $129 for 500 customers. Scale is $299 for 2,000 customers. A repeat caller counts as one customer. See the Goodcall listing.

Fit: shops where the same customers call several times about one job.

Sameday AI: for ServiceTitan shops

Sameday AI's plans start at $449 a month with 500 minutes, unlimited users, and three locations. The plan card lists "Pro scheduling (ServiceTitan etc)," and its site says it connects ServiceTitan and Housecall Pro. See the Sameday AI listing and AI receptionists that work with ServiceTitan.

Housecall Pro CSR AI

How to choose in one afternoon

Pull last month's call log. Count calls, after-hours calls, and average length.
Price your volume on two plans. A 100-call month costs $129.95 on Upfirst Starter (30 included plus 70 at $1.50). The same 100 calls at 3 minutes each is 300 minutes, which fits Rosie Scale at $149.
Start a trial and call it yourself at 10 p.m. with a fake emergency. Check what reached you and how fast.
Read the cancel terms before you port your number.
